A project moves
through decisions.

An illustrative sequence for a home or interiors project. A written appointment defines the actual stages and responsibilities.

1

Describe the change

Share the property location, existing information and the daily problems you want to solve. Separate essential needs from preferences.

You bring: photos, plans if available and an initial budget range.

Decision: whether the project fits the studio’s actual scope.

2

Test the brief

Read the site and compare a small number of spatial options. Record assumptions that still need a survey, specialist advice or other verification.

You review: plans, sections and the consequences of each option.

Decision: a preferred direction and an agreed brief.

3

Develop the proposal

Resolve the preferred design and coordinate the information needed for the agreed stage. Maintain a clear list of open decisions.

You review: materials, room arrangements and the developing project scope.

Decision: approval to proceed to the next contracted stage.

4

Prepare the handover

Check the deliverable register and explain what each document is for. Construction services, procurement and site involvement are separate unless included in the appointment.

You receive: the agreed drawings and schedules, with limitations clearly marked.

Decision: the next responsible action for the project.

Keep the brief
within reach.

Write down the three changes that matter most. Include what must stay, your target timing and any access requirements. This is enough to begin a useful first conversation.
