Make the scope
as clear as the image.

Sample service descriptions for a photography and art direction studio. Each project starts with the intended uses, available materials and practical constraints.

Image making

Photography

Still-life and editorial photography of objects, materials and small sets. Plan the subject list, visual references and required formats before making the images.

A scope can include

  • Shot list and set planning
  • Lighting and composition exploration
  • Image selection and agreed retouching
  • Delivery at specified sizes and color profiles

Production costs, specialist equipment, locations and third-party collaborators are discussed separately when needed.

Visual planning

Art direction

Translate a brief into an approach the production team can follow. Set a visual priority, choose a material vocabulary and define what each photograph needs to communicate.

A scope can include

  • Reference selection and creative rationale
  • Set, surface and prop suggestions
  • Composition notes for required placements
  • Creative review at agreed project stages

The written brief records who approves each stage and how revisions are handled.

Final preparation

Image preparation

Prepare an agreed selection for use across a defined set of channels. Retouching and crop decisions should support the original subject and the agreed brief.

Define before delivery

  • Final image count and file naming
  • Aspect ratios and minimum dimensions
  • Retouch boundaries and approval rounds
  • Usage, duration, territory and attribution

Fees and schedules are quoted against the actual scope. This sample site does not show live prices or availability.

Working together.

From first note to agreed scope

Send the subject, intended placements, quantity, timing and any budget constraints. The next step is to clarify production needs and put the agreed scope in writing.

Who handles props and locations?

Assign responsibility for props, transport, access, permissions and returns before production. Those responsibilities belong in the project agreement.

What happens when the brief changes?

Confirm the revised deliverables, cost and schedule before additional work starts. Keep a written record of approvals.
