The colophon

A newspaper can make a small subject large enough to examine.

How we imagine

Press Club is an independent editorial concept. This issue uses a fictional town to explore ordinary public life: a room that shares its tools and a notice that invites people in.

We use invented circumstances openly. We do not present invented interviews as reporting, borrow authority from real institutions, or turn a plausible detail into a verified fact. The distinction belongs beside the story, where a reader can see it.

What we ask of a story

A specific subject. A clear question. Enough detail to make a point worth considering. Space for the reader to disagree. In this issue, the question is how small practical arrangements can widen participation.

The argument should remain readable without the photograph. Images add atmosphere and context, but cannot prove an event happened. Our generated printroom image illustrates an invented place.

A reader’s part

Keep a story for later. Bring a question from your own place. Use the reader card to compose a note about the subjects you would want an independent publication to investigate.
