Something small
to try today.

A few practical prompts for the time between lessons. Use an ordinary clock, stop when the time is up and write down one thing you noticed.

Sample business — fictional demonstration 049

A line without an eraser.

Drawing · 2 minutes

Choose a cup or a leaf. Trace its outer shape with your eyes, then your pencil. Look back at the object more often than at the paper.

Afterwards: where did your eyes move faster than your hand?

A place in five details.

Writing · 5 minutes

Describe a room using one sound, one texture, one object, one smell and one change in light. Leave out the words “nice” and “interesting.”

Afterwards: which detail made the place easiest to imagine?

Hear a phrase twice.

Music · 5 minutes

Choose a short passage you can already play. Play it once at a comfortable pace. Rest, then repeat it while listening only for where each phrase ends.

Afterwards: where did you want to take more time?

Keep a practice note.

On paper, write the date, what you tried and one thing you noticed. Choose a next step small enough to repeat tomorrow.

These exercises are optional. Stop or adapt an exercise if it is uncomfortable; ask your tutor about a suitable alternative.
