Make arrival a real day.
An arrival is not empty space before the trip starts. Give it a local plan, a clear way to the base and enough margin for the journey that brought you there.
Open Season is a fictional independent travel-planning practice. We start with the pace of a day, then work out how the places connect.

An arrival is not empty space before the trip starts. Give it a local plan, a clear way to the base and enough margin for the journey that brought you there.
A change of base should add something worth the effort. The compact route changes place each day; the unhurried version adds a day in the middle without another transfer.
The most fragile connection is often the last short one. Check how the station, town, path and onward service join, including what happens if the original plan changes.
Think about the station pair, actual service pattern, luggage and platform access. The sample route describes a relationship between places; it does not promise a particular departure.
A bus, taxi or arranged transfer may connect the rail corridor to a final place. Availability, booking rules and the return need separate confirmation.
A short distance on a map may still involve steps, rough surfaces or exposed sections. Describe the actual route and your party’s requirements before treating it as an easy walk.
