NorthlineOperations / handoff design

A slot in the schedule.
A gap in the packet.

Worked fictional case: a print shop preparing a gallery guide. The example quantity of 500 copies gives the packet context; no real job or performance result is represented.

Before

The coordinator has a brief. The schedule owner has a tentative press slot. Both think the other person holds the proof approval.

The decision

Agreed briefNamed version
+ named approval
Released job

Keep “a place in the schedule” separate from “permission to produce.” The coordinator owns assembling the release packet. The schedule owner accepts it only when the approval can be traced to the same artwork version.

If the approval is missing or conditional, the job returns to the coordinator with the specific open question. The return path is part of the agreement.

The next step

Try the agreement on one sample job.

Walk through the packet together. Ask the receiving person to identify the approved version and describe any condition that changes scheduling. Record where they still need to ask someone else.

Keep the unknowns visible.

The example does not establish how often this happens, how long it takes or whether the proposed agreement works in a real team. Those questions require observation and review with the people doing the work.

Inspect the release handoff

Document the
real work.

Use a permitted photograph or scan of actual workshop material here, with confidential information removed. Explain the question it helped clarify, without inventing a client result.

Work photo instruction: supply your own permitted image of actual operational mapping or workshop work. Replace alt text and caption with truthful context. Do not use stock people as staff or present this fictional packet as client evidence.
