Questions before the visit.
These answers help you plan a conversation about kitchen & bath remodel. Confirm the scope with the business before booking.
Can you remodel an occupied apartment?
Discuss dust control, work hours, access and how long the kitchen or bathroom may be unavailable before agreeing to a schedule.
Do I need co-op or condo approval?
Many buildings require an alteration agreement, insurance documents and approved work hours. Ask your managing agent what is needed.
Who handles permits?
The written scope should name the party responsible for permits and any licensed plumbing or electrical work.
Can I keep my existing layout?
A site visit can help compare keeping fixtures in place with moving them. Existing conditions affect the options.
Who orders materials?
Agree in writing on purchasing, delivery, storage, lead times and responsibility for damaged items.
What belongs in the estimate?
Request a scope, exclusions, allowances, payment schedule, cleanup responsibilities and a change-order process.
How do hidden conditions affect the job?
Old wiring, plumbing or water damage may change the scope. Ask how findings will be documented and approved.
Can I see completed projects?
Ask for the business’s own project photos and references shared with permission.
